Northern California Whitewater Rafting: Tree of Heaven

The Klamath River and the Tree of Heaven run is a Northern California gem, a little known secret, and it's one of our favorites. Rafters of any age are invited to join us on the Klamath River Whitewater Rafting Trip and be engulfed in the beauty and wonder of this amazing Northern California desert canyon. The Klamath River is close to Ashland and on the way we'll cross the highest point on Interstate 5 and get a breathtaking view of Mount Shasta, which is just the first of the many highlights of this raft trip. Many playful rapids like Humbug rapid and Schoolhouse await you to thrill and delight. You will find on this river rafting trip that most weekdays you will rarely see anyone else on the river and on the weekends you may see a couple of other groups rafting and kayaking down the Klamath River.

Klamath River History

Sunshine, wildlife and history of the Klamath River canyon are more than abundant on this "Wild and Scenic " stretch of the Klamath River. We begin most of our trips at the beautiful Tree of Heaven campground. This campground was once was once home to Chinese immigrants who farmed the area and grew vegetables to sell to the area miners. The "tree of heaven" is a deciduous tree that was brought in to this area for its' medicinal and cultural importance and to remind the Chinese inhabitants of their homeland. While on your rafting trip ask your river guide to show you the "tree of heaven".

Wildlife Abounds

Another highlight of the Klamath River raft trip is that dozens of colorful birds illuminate the horizon, a treat for birding enthusiasts. Our professional whitewater rafting guides will spin nostalgic tales of the area's rich mining and Native American history. Western pond turtles, mule deer, otters, and great blue herons are just some of the wildlife that call the Klamath River canyon home. If you have a keen eye you may also catch a glimpse of a bald eagle soaring above.

This is what whitewater rafting is all about and all of this can be seen from the raft or while floating in the warm, summer waters of the Klamath River in a bathing suit and lifejacket.
